Summer/Fall Beer Lineups

Here's a sampling of the beers I've been trying out this past Summer and Fall. You can click through to the Flickr image to see the details, but I'll just mention my favorites here. From this lineup I think my favorites were the Michigan Brewing High Seas IPA and the Old Curmudgeon Ale from Founders. The former is a very refreshing IPA without overdoing the bitterness, and the latter is nice evening beer with a kick (9.8 abv) which is somewhere between an American Ale and an English Ale, especially good if you're a fan of the earthy barrel-aged taste, like I am. It's only brewed in May though, so you gotta be quick.

Although they're hard to see, these are the beers from October/Novermber. I was actually pleasantly surprised by "Costco" Kirkland beer, which came in Amber, Pale Ale, German Ale and a Heffenweizen, all brewed by Gordon Biersch. They're not anything out of this world, but for a Costco-sized variety pack it's a much better deal than beer of comparable price. I also really liked the Cable Car Lager, a small batch from City Brewing, although the Beer Advocate reviews of it are pretty crappy. Again click through to Flickr for more detail.
