Face Blend - Picasa 3.5

Picasa 3.5 finally catches up to what 3.0 should've been - integrating face recognition into the desktop client, fixing the horrible keyword (label) interface and patching up the buggy and massively inconvenient Import intereface. The People Search addition is probably the one I've been waiting for the longest since I organize my photos mostly by events and have tons of photos with people that I'd like to be able to bring up in parallel rather than going folder-diving. Previously I had to use the keywords, which was a pain in itself (why would you make keywords case-sensitive?). Another cool feature about the face recognizer is that now Picasa can process only the recognized face region instead of the whole photo in a bunch of its batch tools. The image above is a multiple exposure collage of all the ~300 images of my face Picasa has identified so far. A lot of them aren't forward-facing so much blurring occrs, but the general features that Picasa uses to recognize my face are clearly vizible - the bags under the eyes, the creepy Joker smile, and of course my awesome jew-nose!

Have Picasa 3.5? Make your own face blend. Just click on a person in the "People" collection, select all the images, and go to Create-->Picture Collage. Choose the "Multiple Exposure" layout and click create. Be prepared to wait a good hour or two if you have more than 100 faces.
